2010 Catholic Education Appeal
The Catholic Education Appeal kicks off each fall with a pulpit appeal at many parishes in the Northwest Region of the Diocese of Lansing (Clinton, Eaton, Ingham and Shiawassee Counties). Funds raised through this appeal provide need-based tuition assistance grants to families in our region choosing to send their children to one of the 15 Catholic Schools in our region. Ten percent of the funds collected through this appeal will be offered back to participating parishes, in equal proportion, for use in their parish-based religious education programs.
For the current school year, GLCEF provided $100,000 in need based tuition assistance. This is more than has ever been awarded by GLCEF, but it represented less than a quarter of the need presented by those families applying for grants. The more funds that can be raised through this appeal, the more we can help reduce the financial burden on families struggling to provide a faith-based education for their children.
Through the generosity of donors in our region, GLCEF has provided $66,000 in parish religious education support since the year 2000. From 1999-2008 GLCEF has awarded over $781,000 in needs-based tuition assistance grants. Help us to continue our support of Catholic education in its many forms -- please make a gift today!
